The above 0 to 60 Mph and quarter mile times have been sourced from a combination of public publications, private testimonials and individual testing. Please keep in mind that there are a multitude of real world factors that can skew these results, including but not limited to: driver ability, pavement quality, tire quality, elevation, temperature, humidity at the testing site, and the quality of the recording device. Based on this, owners should expect their own vehicles to perform within a general acceptable range of these values.

Scion History:

Released as a sub-brand by Toyota in 2003, Scion was created to specifically target a younger generation of buyers. While Toyota’s success increased throughout the late 1990’s, a result of this was a shift in the brands perception. As the brand filled a more quality oriented utilitarian image, it effectively lost the edge that is required to market to younger buyers. As such, Scion was created to meet this market with a number of entry-level vehicles with straight forward pricing and a host of aftermarket upgrades. While the brand was launched to much fanfare, showing strong initial sales, a number of shortcomings were apparent. The models, lacking any semblance of luxury or performance, had limited appeal. Initially this did not seem like a hindrance, with a comparative average buyer age of 39, as compared to that of Toyota at 59. However, the limited appeal of the vehicles coupled with the worldwide economic downturn on 2008 caused sales to plummet. While Toyota tried to resuscitate the brand with a host of new models and a sports car based off of the Subaru BRZ, ultimately the brand was already doomed. As of the end of 2016, all remaining Scion models will be rebranded as Toyotas, the most important of these being the FR-S, which will be called the Toyota 86.
